ScanTheSender ("we", "us", or "our") is a free email scam detection tool available at scanthesender.com. We provide AI-powered analysis to help individuals identify potentially fraudulent emails.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We are committed to your privacy. We do not:
- Store any email content you submit for analysis
- Collect your name, email address, or contact information
- Create user accounts or require registration
- Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing
- Use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes
3. How Email Analysis Works
When you paste an email and click "Scan Email," the text is transmitted securely over HTTPS to Anthropic's Claude API for AI analysis. This transmission is:
- Encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
- Not stored on ScanTheSender's servers
- Processed according to Anthropic's privacy policy
- Used solely to generate the scam analysis result returned to you
We recommend removing sensitive personal information (account numbers, passwords) from emails before submitting them for analysis.
4. Analytics & Usage Data
We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand aggregate site usage. This data is anonymised, never tied to individuals, and used only to improve the tool.
5. Advertising
ScanTheSender may display advertisements served by Google AdSense to fund the free operation of this service. Advertising networks may use cookies to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's Ad Settings.
6. Third-Party Services
- Open AI — AI analysis engine. Subject to Open AI's Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts — Typography. Google may log font requests.
- Google AdSense — Advertising (if enabled). Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Children's Privacy
ScanTheSender is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
